Psalm 146 - Help for the Hurting

This Sunday will conclude our spring study of the Psalms. Doug will be speaking from Psalm 146. It is a wonderful look at God's provision for those who are hurting. It is going to be a great day of worship and spiritual growth.

I am on my way to Africa right now. This weekend I will be speaking at the graduation of students from our Bible School in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where Dr. Tarr has been training the national ministers of that area. On Sunday, I will then share at a wonderful church in the city of Addis Ababa. I am anxious to witness the incredible things that are happening in this part of our world. I will return mid-week and look forward to getting back in the flow of things at CCC.

Once again, if you have not taken time to complete our Spiritual Life Survey, please do so today. We are partners in our mission on earth and your contribution to this survey will help our partnership to grow stronger. We learn from each other and then discover new ways to become all we can be in our spiritual mission. This is important to me and I deeply value your contribution.

Psalm 146:5-6 Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the LORD his God, the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them - the LORD, who remains faithful forever.

Psalm 98 Jubilation

As of today we have had almost 400 individuals complete the Spiritual Life Survey. Thank you! If you haven't done so yet, please carve out 30 minutes in your day and let us know your thoughts. Our goal is to have at least 1,500 participate. You will help us as a family of believers understand where we are in our growth process and enable us to plan effectively for our future. You can access the survey by clicking here

Don't be late for the service you attend this Sunday. We are going to begin the service with the message from Psalm 98. It will be interactive as we celebrate God's love through worship throughout the message. Communion will also be included. It is going to be a special day and I anticipate an awesome sense of God's presence and favor!

Psalm 98:1

Sing to the LORD a new song,
for he has done marvelous things;
his right hand and his holy arm
have worked salvation for him.

Can't wait to see you on Sunday!

Forgiven and Free

I am already anticipating what we will experience when we meet for worship on Sunday! The atmosphere that is created when we come together with a common focus to connect with God is difficult to describe. I know that He loves you with an intense love and is wanting to help you physically, emotionally, and spiritually. We will be studying Psalm 32 where we find we are forgiven and free.

Please take a few minutes this week and register your thoughts in our spiritual life survey. You can access the survey at this link
http://www.revealnow.com/slsurvey?uid=5542. Your response will help us know how to serve you better in our spiritual journey. The survey takes about 20 to 25 minutes to complete and is completely anonymous. Thank you for letting us hear your voice.

2 Corinthians 3:17-18 "Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit."

Mother's Day Weekend

Great things are on the calendar for this weekend! If you are looking for some fun entertainment, check out the Seussical the Musical presentation by our High School Performing Arts Department on Friday or Saturday. You will enjoy it and gain a greater appreciation for the quality of our students.

Sunday, Cathy will continue our teaching in the Psalms with a look at Psalm 91. We have a couple special features planned for Mother's Day and we are expecting a tangible experience of God's presence.

A word to my Mom . . . Thanks for a lifetime of love and compassion. Thanks for your constant words of encouragement and affirmation. Thanks for always believing in me and holding me up before God in your prayers. Thanks for your example of what it looks like to totally love God. Thanks for your gentleness and strength. You are the picture perfect Mom! I love you!!

A week from Sunday begins a two-week period where we are encouraging you to commit 20 to 25 minutes of your time to give us feedback in an on-line survey. The purpose of this survey is to inform us of how we can serve you better. We want to know what is helping you grow spiritually, and what is getting in the way. Please take a few minutes between May 17 and May 31 to help us help you. Next week I will provide a link for you to use to access the survey.

Psalm 91:1-2 "He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust."

Can't wait to see you this weekend!

Pastor Rick
