PARABLES OF JESUS
Perhaps the most widely circulated story Jesus told is the parable of the lost son . . . better known as the prodigal son. It is more about the character of the father than that of the son. This Sunday we will study this parable and grow in our appreciation of the compassion we receive from our heavenly Father.
CIM ROAD CLOSURES ON SUNDAY
The California International Marathon is run this Sunday and requires the closure of roads along the race path. If you live north of the Sacramento River, you will want to check the road closures to be sure you can make it to church on time. Click here for the road closure schedule: http://blogs.sacbee.com/ticket/archives/2011/11/schedule-of-cim.html
6:13 PRAYER MEETING
We will continue the Wednesday evening prayer meeting through December with the exception of the final week, December 28. Join us if you can for this wonderful time in God’s presence.
SINGING CHRISTMAS TREE
What an amazing tradition we have of bringing the Christmas message to our community through the medium of creative arts. No better opportunity than this one to bring a friend to church.
Luke 15:23-24 Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found. So they began to celebrate.

ABUNDANCE OF GIVING OPPORTUNITIES
Labels: California International Maraton, God, Port in a Storm, Rick Cole, Run for a Reason, Sacramento church, Singing Christmas Tree
THE SINGING CHRISTMAS TREE. Gift a friend or family member tickets to the Singing Christmas Tree this year. It’s not too late. Two great weekends with the most incredible Christmas experience in town. You can purchase tickets online at www.sct.cc.
PORT IN A STORM. Winter shelter for the homeless who would be left on the streets without our help. We are opening our doors next week, Sunday through Saturday night. If you would like to help, stop by the Outreach kiosk in the Lobby on Sunday or call our office on Monday for more information. The primary responsibility is hosting our guests from 5:00 pm each evening until 10:00 pm.
RUN FOR A REASON. I will be running the California International Marathon on Sunday with our Be Change running team on behalf of the children of Oak Park. I am moved by the innocence of these children and compelled to do what I can to give them hope for their future. If you would like to donate to this cause, you can do so online at www.grouprev.com/rickcole.
YEAR-END GIVING. As we come to the end of 2010, it is good to consider giving a little extra to further the mission of our church in the city and the benefit from the charitable giving tax benefits available. It truly is more blessed to give than to receive. Maximize your joy this Christmas season through giving. We are looking forward to awesome experiences in worship all month long.
LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS. We kick off this Christmas season on Sunday with a fresh look at what Jesus came to bring to our world. Don’t miss this day of inspiration and reflection. Every time we meet together to focus on Jesus, something wonderful is bound to happen.
John 1:4-5 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
