The adrenalin is building for the second weekend of the Singing Christmas Tree. Celebrating the birth of our Savior in this dramatic way is a great privilege that we have enjoyed for the past 53 years. He is worthy of all the attention. There are still seats available if you would like to attend.

Sunday, Cathy and I will be speaking about pursuing an Uncommon Family. We are looking forward to encouraging you with God’s Word and we are believing for a great experience in His presence.

Ephesians 5:1-2 Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

Jesus Loves the Forgotten

These are some exciting days! The Singing Christmas is in full swing this weekend and next. If you haven’t yet secured tickets to attend, the best available times are the 7:00 p.m. performances on the two Saturday’s and Sunday’s. This is a great event to bring a friend to.

Sunday our Equal Start Be Change team is running the Sacramento International Marathon to help support health care for the children of Oak Ridge Elementary School. We have a largest group of runners ever and some amazing partnerships are developing in the community through this outreach.

Sunday’s focus will be “Jesus Loves the Forgotten.” It is going to be a very moving experience as we continue to grow in our awareness of the needs around us and how we can make a difference.

One of the special features for this Christmas season is our annual focus toward One Day to Feed the World. We partner with Convoy of Hope where one dollar is matched with donations to multiply the value of our gift. The idea is that we calculate what one day’s wage would be and, if possible, give that amount to help feed those that are in poverty around the world. Convoy of Hope has there boots on the ground where the need is and they are making a significant difference for hurting people. What a great way for us to make this Christmas giving season a little more special and impacting. We will be receiving this offering on Sunday, December 20. Please consider joining me and my family in this effort.

Uncommon Faith

Thanksgiving provides some time to slow down a little bit and enjoy the blessings we have in life. From the book "Words of Gratitude for Mind, Body, and Soul" written by Robert Emmons (professor at U.C. Davis) and Joanna Hill, comes this quote by Sarah Ban Breathnach:

Both abundance and lack exist simultaneously in our lives, as parallel realities. It is always our conscious choice which secret garden we will tend . . . when we choose not to focus on what is missing from our lives but are grateful for the abundance that’s present – love, health, family, friends, work, the joys of nature and personal pursuits that bring us pleasure – the wasteland of illusion falls away and we experience Heaven on earth.

Let’s continue to tend the secret garden of abundance, focusing our attention on the good things of life instead of the trials.

I’m looking forward to a great time with you as we worship together on Sunday. Uncommon Faith is the theme of the day and I am believing God to help us grow in our ability to have faith for breakthroughs in life.

Also, Friday night our High School football team will be playing a semi-final playoff game at 7:00 pm in our football stadium. Come early for a great BBQ dinner at 6:00 pm and enjoy the evening with our CCS family.
