Happy Thanksgiving! If you are available, consider joining us for our Thanksgiving service tomorrow at 10am. This is a wonderful tradition of gathering as a church family and giving God thanks. And there's still plenty of time in the day to enjoy family, food and even football!
I look forward to this Sunday when we complete our month-long focus on the Gift of Gratitude, with our theme "Mary and the Box." There's much hope to be learned from this lesson of sacrifice and forgiveness.
Even in the midst of economic crisis and uncertainty, health issues or relationship challenges, we can choose to be thankful. Rest assured that God is in control, no matter our past failures or current circumstances. He has a plan and purpose for our future . . . and He cares about all the things that concern us today. So let's be thankful!
1 Thessalonians 5:18 "Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus."

What are you thankful for?
It's Wednesday evening and I am on a plane to Tampa, Florida. I will be attending meetings for two days on the campus of Southeastern University to lend my support to the development of a new building dedicated to the training of vocational ministers. The times we live in are growing more desperate and the opportunity to bring in the end-time harvest of souls is before us. Are these exciting days or what?!
My mind is flooded with thoughts of thanksgiving and I am really moved when I think about the potential of what we will experience on Sunday. It is a day set aside to say "thank you" to God. My message will be woven with worship and I anticipate a heightened sensitivity to the presence of our God and Savior.
Don't forget the One Day to Feed the World offering this week. Our goal is to determine what one day's wage would be and give that amount to help alleviate hunger and touch the soul and spirit of people around the world. There will be a return on this investment that is eternal.
Psalm 7:17 "I will give thanks to the LORD because of his righteousness and will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High."
Our annual Thanksgiving Day service will start at 10am on Thursday and will include communion. It is a wonderful way to start the holiday season. I hope you will be able to come and worship with my family.

Prescription for Health
In our month-long emphasis regarding the Gift of Gratitude, I have a prescription for health to share with you this Sunday. There are so many benefits that come with a consistent attitude of thanksgiving, that these benefits alone are worth pursuing daily improvement in our attitude.
Please pray and plan with me toward our emphasis on Sunday, November 23 to give one day's wage to feed the hungry in our world. We can make a significant difference through our partnership with Convoy of Hope. Thanksgiving Day we will have a special service at 10am to give thanks to God and share Holy Communion. It is a great way to start the day before enjoying food and football with friends and family.
Psalm 95:1-3 "Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. 2 Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song. 3 For the LORD is the great God, the great King above all gods."
