Happy birthday to our daughter, Laine Alves!! She is 28 today and continues to bring great joy to our lives. Laine serves in our office as our Communications Director and does an amazing job with all our print publications. She is also a devoted wife to Joe and mother of our first grandchild, Joseph Judah (18 months old). Beyond that she will give us another grandchild around the end of September. It’s a busy life and she handles it with grace and a positive spirit.
Sunday we will be in our fourth week of study in our Do Something emphasis. This week focuses on pain, something we all experience in our journey. Pain does so much more than hurt. We grow through pain. Without pain, we will get soft and ineffective. Pain can result in God’s comfort that we can share with someone else for their healing and our own. We are looking forward to a day of healing as Samuel Gordon brings this important teaching.
1 Peter 4:12-13 Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed.
